‘Веселого Різдва’ Veseloho Rizdva Mackie!

In Ukrainian, Happy/Merry Christmas is ‘Веселого Різдва’ Veseloho Rizdva (Merry Christmas) or ‘Христос Рождається’ Khrystos Rozhdayetsia (Christ is Born).

For some reason this video of the church services and surrounding area could not be posted for security reasons….hmmmm

Mackie is celebrating Christmas today, the 7th of January because the Orthodox Church uses the old ‘Julian’ calendar for their church festivals.

The Holy Supper, called ‘Sviata Vecheria’ is eaten on Christmas Eve (6th January). Mackie joins this family for a Christmas meal. (Pictured ‘kolach’, special Christmas bread).

Rohatyn – City located in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in western Ukraine. Prior to WWII, this city was located in Poland.
